1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms apply to your use of Puppy Scale (puppyscale.com), operated by an individual based in the United States (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

2. An independent site, not a veterinary practice

Puppy Scale is an independent website, not a veterinary practice. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any veterinary association, kennel club, poison-control service, university, pet-food or pet-insurance company named on this site. Names are used only to identify sources. Puppy Scale is not a veterinary practice, a telehealth service, a pharmacy or a poison-control service. Using the site does not create a veterinarian–client–patient relationship or any other professional relationship with us.

3. Information, not veterinary advice

The site is informational. The calculators do arithmetic on the numbers you enter using the published formulas, thresholds and open data shown with each calculator, and the guides explain growth, food and weight, pregnancy and heat, age, safety and costs in general terms. Nothing here is veterinary, medical or nutritional advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and you are not relying on us for any decision about your pet’s health.

For your pet, talk to your vet. In an emergency, call your vet or an animal poison-control service at once. The site never gives a dose of any medicine or supplement. See the Disclaimer.

4. The calculators are estimates

• Every answer is an estimate with a range. Animals differ, and your pet may fall outside the range shown. Talk to your vet before you rely on a number.
• Guidelines, thresholds, fees and surveys change. The calculators use the version we last checked, on the date shown with each result.
• Where no source exists, a calculator says “Not modeled” instead of guessing. A result that leaves something out is not a promise that nothing else applies.
• The calculators are free and run in your browser. We may change or remove them at any time.

5. Our content

The text, design, drawings and code of this site belong to the operator, except for material credited to others, public government works and the trademarks of their owners. You may link to any page and quote short excerpts with a link back. Don’t copy whole guides, republish the site’s content, or scrape it in bulk without written permission.

The growth tables derived from openly licensed research data are shared under the same licence as that data (CC BY 4.0 for the puppy tables, CC BY 3.0 for the kitten tables): you may reuse them with the attribution shown with each table. Names of organizations, publications and products are used only to identify them; Puppy Scale uses no logo of any of them and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

6. Acceptable use

Don’t interfere with the site or its security, overload it with automated requests, or try to access anything that is not publicly offered.

7. Links, affiliate links and advertising

The site links to other websites, mostly the sources it cites, and shows ads served by Google. There are no affiliate links today; any added later will be marked where they appear (“(paid link)” for Amazon). We don’t control other sites or ads and aren’t responsible for their content, products, prices or practices. An ad on this site is not an endorsement, and no advertiser is affiliated with the site.

8. No warranty

The site and tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the site is free of errors, that an estimate will match your pet, or that a result suits your situation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of any kind, arising from your use of the site or the calculators, including decisions you make based on them. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us to use the site (which is nothing) or US $50.

10. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, email hello@puppyscale.com with the subject “DMCA notice” and include:

1. your physical or electronic signature;
2. a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
3. the address (URL) of the material on this site;
4. your name, mailing address, phone number and email address;
5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.

We will review valid notices promptly and remove or disable infringing material. If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
